Integrating ISO 9001:2000 with ISO/TS 16949 and AS9100 explains how to implement a quality management system complaint with ISO 9001:2000 along with the supplemental requirements of ISO/TS 16949 and AS9100. This book is specifically designed for the automotive and aerospace industries, and focuses on how to integrate general and industry specific standards throughout an organization. It provides a general introduction to quality standards with an overview of ISO 9001:2000. Emphasis is placed an explaining ISO/TS 16949 and AS9100 requirements that go beyond ISO requirements, and the book also covers customer-specific requirements for use with ISO/TS 16949 for DaimlerChrysler, General Motors, and Ford Motor Company.

The author, D.H. Stamatis, offers a transition path and discusses some key approaches to implementing ISO 9001,
ISO/TS 16949, and AS9100. He emphasizes the importance of the implementation process for an organization and demonstrates the need to follow these standards through a very systematic approach. Specific examples are given on how to document a quality system, and a detailed discussion is presented for creating documentation with and without the aid of computer software. The author also offers an overview of the five basic methodologies of any “good” quality system including FMEA, SPC, APQP, MSA, and PPAP, and their significant contribution to quality improvement. Additionally, auditing (the planning as well as the process) is discussed with a heavy emphasis on “process” orientation.

Provided throughout the book are many supporting figures and tables, and the appendices include information about training, FMEA aids, guidelines for process selection and metrics evaluation, and statistics in auditing. The accompanying CD-ROM includes many additional resources covering PPAP, APQP, and generic ISO 9001, ISO/TS 16949, and AS9100 checklists and quality manuals.
