Although a large number of fastenings assembles are installed every day, understanding in the engineering community of their behaviour is limited, and there is no generally accepted design method. Design of fastenings in concrete over comes this.

This design guide is based on a safety concept using partial safety factors taken from the CEB/FIB Model Code 1990, and it covers all loading situations and failure models. It is valid for expansion, undercut and headed anchors, and is applicable to both new structures and the repair and strengthening of existing structures.

This design guide will be complemented by future CEB work to cover fastenings with bonded anchors, channel bars and shear lugs.
