Chemistry is fundamental to the development of any "clean" energy technology. Finding sustainable replacements for dwindling fossil fuel supplies is one of the most pressing problems we will be called upon to solve. This text for chemistry undergraduates reviews the fundamental concepts of chemistry at a deeper level than introductory courses (i.e. beyond general chemistry or organic chemistry) within the context of energy generation.
